I can evaluate the relationship between the relative positions of the Earth, Moon, and Sun and observable phenomena. This includes moon phases, eclipses, tides, and seasons.

Warm-Up

With a partner, write down everything you know about the moon! You have 45 seconds.

1. Individually take this survey

Groups

2. Get into groups of 2 - 4. Together you will read 4 pieces of evidence on the moon formation. On a separate piece of paper, summarize the argument of the evidence into 1 or 2 short sentences.

3. Again, in groups work on the Moon Evidence Diagram. This will be a handout in class.

Day 2

Individual

1. Look at the Moon Evidence Diagram from yesterday. You will now work to explain why you support the most plausible model. This is a physical handout.

2. When you finish creating a supporting argument for one model, retake this survey. (Part of your daily grade)

Closer

Grab a blank comic strip and draw out the model you chose as most plausible. Turn this in. (Part of your daily grade)
