Honor Code: Any act of cheating will result in a ‘0’ on the assignment or test. Cheating includes (but is not limited to) either giving or receiving, in any form, information relating to a gradable task.
Classwork, Homework, Quizzes & Tests: - Immediately upon entering the classroom, students will write in their agendas and complete the daily warm-up activity.
- Each Thursday a new Homework assignment will be issued on Canvas. Since your child has an entire week to complete the homework assignment, homework will not be accepted late. The questions will always be review of what the students have already learned. In addition to homework, I will give the students daily work to help reinforce what they are currently learning. The daily work may or may not be graded, however, they will help with the understanding of current concepts.
- Every effort is made to ensure that students understand the concepts prior to quizzes and tests. Students should not routinely need additional time to complete assessments. While students should work problems carefully and check their work, one of the skills they should develop is the ability to pace themselves to complete work within a given time period. Therefore, additional time will only be allowed for completing assessments if specific accommodations are in place.
- Quizzes may be given at any point during the unit. They may or may not be announced. Major tests will be announced. A county-wide Summative Assessment will be given at the end of each unit to monitor the student’s progress and comprehension of the material.
Math Lab: Every Wednesday the 8th grade math teachers will provide math lab from 7:45 – 8:15.
Attendance: If absent, it is the student’s responsibility to get the notes, classwork, and homework assignments for the day(s) missed from our Canvas page. In addition, students must turn in any work that was assigned prior to their absence. Daily assignments will be found in the hanging file folder under the day (Monday-Friday). They will have 1 day per day(s) absent to make up their work missed. Regular attendance at school is extremely important for your success in the classroom. Learning to be responsible for missing work and making deadlines on assignments plays a major role in academic success and character building for you and your future.
